THE WHY 

For years, Chicago's Black and Brown communities have been historically separated. To this day, there are existing tensions even between those of the same communities due to a difference of racial & cultural backgrounds among other factors. Still We R.I.S.E., LLC first began by creating safe and empowering Black spaces for Black youth attending predominantly Latine schools in South Lawndale (Little Village). After witnessing the marginalization that Black students felt within their own schools, it was clear that something had to be done. From youth groups to Black History Month programs, Still We R.I.S.E., LLC began to form.

 

As more and more racial tensions were encountered, Still We R.I.S.E., LLC began to expand to meet the needs of adult community members. Through the delivery of workshops and trainings in partnership with well-known Chicago organizations, the move towards creating sustainable racially equitable community environments began to happen.

Still We R.I.S.E., LLC's ultimate goal is to create opportunities to have the uncomfortable conversations in order to educate, empower, and heal.
